The product

Sulphur burned with pure oxygen, not air

We produce SO₂ by direct reaction of elemental sulphur with pure oxygen, followed by liquefaction. Burning in oxygen rather than air keeps atmospheric nitrogen out of the process — that is what allows a consistently high concentration and a low inert content in the finished liquid.

Food grade and technical grade are produced on the same line to the same purity, and separated by release testing, documentation and packaging control. Customers are invited to audit the facility, the procedures and the management system.

WINE

Winemaking and oenology

Antioxidant and antimicrobial control from crush to bottling. E 220 in cylinders and drums for wineries and oenological distributors.

FOOD

Fruit and dried fruit

Preservation and bleaching of dried and candied fruit, juices, potatoes, mushrooms and cereals. Prevents enzymatic browning.

SUGAR

Sugar and starch

Bacteriostatic, bleaching and acidifying agent in beet and cane sugar processing, and in starch and glucose production.

WATER

Water and effluent treatment

Dechlorination of municipal and industrial effluent and reduction of hexavalent chromium. Steady year-round consumption.

MINING

Mining and hydrometallurgy

Cyanide destruction and leaching in gold, copper, cobalt, nickel and manganese circuits. Typically bulk ISO tank supply.

Surface treatment and acidifying agent on float lines — continuous industrial consumption rather than seasonal demand.

Bleaching agent and scavenger for excess chlorine and peroxide, and for reducing emissions from pulp mills.

All transportable pressure equipment is CE-TPED marked and type approved for ADR, RID and ADN carriage. Filling, testing and dispatch are handled at Elbasan.

The company

A producer, not a trader

Sulphur dioxide has been produced at Elbasan since 1970. F.A.S.A. Shpk was privatised in 1992 and has invested in capacity and product quality since 2004. We sell what we make, from one plant, under our own quality system.

The plant sits in the former metallurgical complex at Elbasan, roughly 60 km from the port of Durrës — the shipping point for ISO tank movements into Italy, Greece and the wider Mediterranean.

Short lines to Europe

Road into the Balkans, Greece, Italy and Central Europe; sea from Durrës. Shorter and more flexible than overseas supply.

Built to be a second source

Most industrial buyers already have a supplier. We are set up to be the approved alternative that answers when the first one cannot deliver.

Flexible pack sizes

Cylinder, drum and ISO tank from the same plant, so a customer can start small and scale without changing supplier.

Audits welcome

Customers are invited to audit the facility, the procedures and the integrated management system, and are notified of material changes.
